Natural Cooling For Your Home Tip #3

With the weather so hot these days, here are some cost effective ways to keep your homes cool naturally. Not only will you be saving on your electricty bills, you'll be doing your part by not adding to the problem of global warming. ;)

Windows
Place sun control cover at your windows to reduce both light and heat in your homes. Adding blinds and shades will make a big difference to the temperature inside your house on warm days. 

You may also add a window film to reduce the sun rays and glare coming into your home too.

And if you stay in a landed property, you may want to add a tree or some shrubs in your garden to provide some shade and coolness.
Appliances
Not much thougths are usually placed on our electrical appliances but many do add heat to the homes.
  • Switch the electrical appliances off when not in use
  • Select energy efficient appliances to reduce heat
  • Limiting the amount of cooking done on stovetop, using microwave will produce less heat
Fan
Use a poryable fan instead of siwthing on your air-conditioning to save electricity. And you can bring the fan along to whichever rooms you're in and place it close to you.

Humidity
Humidity is a big issue in our country and to reduce it, mid day wasking should be avoided unless you're hanging it outside your house.
